Bentley, St. Andrew. Rector: the Rt Rev'd Paul Hunt, M.Sc. Bentley lies between Walsall and Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands.

St. Andrew's Church is a busy, thriving parish on the edge of Wolverhampton, near to Walsall. A modern building, it was erected in the 1950s, and has recently expanded with the addition of a purpose-build, up-to-date church hall with kitchen, vestry and lavatories. The 10:00am Sunday morning service is a traditional Book of Common Prayer service, either Morning Prayer or Holy Communion. The 11:30am Family Praise service is informal and designed, as it's name suggests, for families and for those who are perhaps new to the Christian faith. Evening Prayer at 6:00pm is the traditional Prayer Book service.

Sunday services: 10am Morning service; 11:30am Family Praise; 6:00pm Evening Prayer; 7:30pm 'FRIENDS' group.

Tuesday 7:00pm Bible Study; Wednesday 7:30-8:00am Prayer Group; 12:30pm Luncheon Club; 2:00pm Friendship Club; 7:00pm Youth Club; Thursday: 2:30pm Holy Communion;

Monday 12:00-2:00pm Parents & Toddlers Group.

St Jude’s currently has a small but dedicated and enthusiastic congregation.  Only small currently; enthusiastic and dedicated always.

The church was threatened by possible closure a few years ago but this was met with prayer and determination to continue.  Since then, the church has undergone several changes not least of which is the life and renewed Spirit which welcomes every visitor to the church.  There is ever hope for continued growth.

  The building has had new lighting, which (making use of the scaffolding) lead to the ceiling getting its first lick of paint for 50 years and the marvelous Gern organ has been fully refurbished resulting in a much better sound.  Couple this with the amazing acoustics and you wonder if one week the congregation’s singing may actually succeed in lifting the rafters.

  Most Sunday morning services tend to follow the informal Family Service, with Holy Communion being held every third Sunday.  Visitors would find a warm welcome to the fellowship and refreshments which follows each service.

Exmouth, Christ Church. Rector: The Rev John Graver.

The Rev. John Graver writes: Christ Church is a growing Church with increasing numbers of young people and children attending.  Our 10.30 morning service is a Family Service which is mainly informal. Evening service is at 6.30pm.  Holy Communion is celebrated twice a month, once in the morning and once in the evening and these services are liturgical in form.  At one of our 6.30 evening services we are joined by friends from another Church in the town and we hope to expand this in the coming months to include other churches.

Churches Together in Exmouth is thriving as never before with all churches meeting regularly and acting together in a number of projects – Initiative in Christian Education (ICE) working in our 2800 pupil Community College, Open Door Centre which reaches the homeless, those in debt, alcoholics, those addicted to drugs and more.  And recently we have started a work called ‘Night Shift’ which patrols the streets of Exmouth in the early hours of Sunday morning taking God’s love to young people emerging from Night Clubs etc.

Christ Church is running a number of weeknight meetings called Church in the Home groups and Prayer Watch.  We hold a half night of prayer once a quarter.

We are at the present time re-furbishing our Church and Hall.

There are many weekday and evening activities, including Prayer Groups, Bible Study Groups and Mothers' day-time group.

The present complex was constructed in 1980 on the site of the original Emmanuel Church, which was erected in 1903, on land donated by Lord Norton.

The district of Alum Rock and Saltley now has a majority Muslim population, but in spite of this and a largely elderly congregation as a result, Emmanuel Church maintains two services each Sunday, at 10.45am and 4.30pm, and is usually full almost to capacity on special occasions throughout the year, such as Harvest Festival, Carols by Candlelight and so on.

Aside from the normal, liturgical services, there is an open prayer-meeting each Wednesday morning from 11 until 11.30, led by the senior curate, the Rev. David Boulton (not during the summer). This is followed by the Luncheon Club at 12 noon and a Ladies' Meeting at 1.00pm

There is an active 'Roots & Branches' group centred on Emmanuel Church but meeting in a nearby Primary School, providing a focus for Muslim and Christian women to meet and to learn about one-another's cultures and to do things together. Contact: Mrs Wendy Kerr at Emmanuel Church.

The Saltley, Alum Rock & Hodge Hill group of Churches ('The Rock') Ministers' Fraternal meets at Emmanuel Church every two months or so to discuss matters affecting the Christian Churches in the area.
