Emmanuel Inaugural Service on Reformation Sunday

Emmanuel Anglican Church held its inaugural service on Reformation Sunday, 2017. The service was led by Bishop Paul Hunt.

The new church is a relaunch of the Church set up in the 18th century by the Countess of Huntington. The first sermon was preached by George Whitefield, shortly before he made his final visit to America. The church had a big impact on the town of Tunbridge Wells in mission and in preserving the expository evangelistic preaching modelled by Whitefield. The first president of the Free Church of England was the minister of that original Emmanuel Church. Sadly the church closed its doors in 1974.

Today a congregation meets to worship in the hope that it can renew the work begun in the Free Church of England all those years ago. Please pray for us as we seek God’s will.
