Serving the Lord Jesus Christ

The Revd Colin Hunter was ordained to the Presbyterate last Sunday evening at St Andrew’s. We met for an afternoon tea in the church hall prior to the service. There were sandwiches and cakes, all very lovely. Those who spent the day preparing for this must be congratulated. You would pay a fortune for this commercially. The photo above shows the moment of ordination.

Revd Colin hopes to be available to take Holy Communion to our growing number of elderly and frail congregation who are unable to get to church. Please pray for this important ministry. Evening Prayer was led by the Revd Paul Reynolds before the service. Revd Mark presented Colin to the Bishop and all the ministers took part in the service, including the Revd Daniel Choe from Emmanuel Church, Birmingham. Colin’s favourite hymn, ‘Jesus take me as I am, I can come no other way. Take me deeper into You, make my flesh life melt away. Make me like a precious stone, crystal clear and finely honed, life of Jesus shining through, giving glory back to You.’

Colin’s first task after his ordination was to lead the Thursday morning Holy Communion service. This was the first time Colin had done the whole service and he coped admirably. Well done, Colin, you did everything exceedingly well. Please come and join us, every Thursday at 11am. Thank you to the regular and new attendees last Thursday, especially for Colin.
