The FCE is moving to a new season through church-planting

Bishop Paul, Mark and Matthew had a very enjoyable weekend in London last week. Thankfully we had travelled on the Saturday for a West End show (Wicked), so we avoided the snow that the Midlands suffered. The aim of the weekend was attending the Inaugural Service of a new church plant in Croydon (south of London). This is a Tamil speaking congregation led by the Revd Jabson Watson. Jabson has also re-started the Tamil services in Harlesden (see past news).

Bishop Paul was given a choice of names for the new church – St Thomas, St John or St Peter. It had to be St Peter’s Church! Jabson had translated the Prayer Book Evening Prayer service word for word into Tamil and we sang in both Tamil and English—It was just like Pentecost again!

St Peter’s Church aims to develop a Tamil congregation for the Free Church of England in Croydon. We meet at 3 pm on Sundays at the Chapel, Life Tabernacle, 1 Campbell Road, Croydon, CR0 2SQ. We follow the traditional order of service of the Free Church of England in Tamil. Any Tamils missing the traditional service back home, we warmly welcome you to join us!
