On 13th July it was a sunny Saturday in Exmouth when guests began to arrive at Christ Church. They were welcomed by a friendly team that provided lunch before the start of Bishop Josep’s Induction Service at 2 pm.

It was a joy to welcome Bishop Paul to Christ Church, who had travelled 170 miles to be with us and who would lead the Induction. There were also other FCE Ministers that had travelled to be with us, including the Revd John Eustice from Exeter.

Bishops Paul’s sermon was inspiring as he challenged us to be faithful to the mission call that the Church has received from our Lord, Jesus Christ. This message paired well with the reason that Bishop Josep, with his wife, Patrice, and their daughter, Natalia, answered the call from the Lord to move from Brazil to England. They believe they were called to help build up Christ Church and plant new churches. Bishop Paul said, “He has got off to a great start as there were over ninety people at the service yesterday, including the local Mayor”.

Also attending the Induction Service were representatives from ten different local churches in town. This indicates the strong sense of Christian unity that Christ Church has with the other local churches. The Christian leaders of Exmouth also prayed for Bishop Josep.

It was a lovely day with so many blessings, providing a wonderful memory about what the Lord is doing in this new season at Christ Church, Exmouth.
