The King’s Award for Voluntary Service

We are honoured to announce that St George’s Mill Hill Scout Group has been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2024.

This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

The award comes as the Scout Group celebrates its 40th anniversary, having been established in December 1984, with currently more than 80 young people from the local area being supported by 19 adult volunteers.

It also recognises the hard work and dedication undertaken by our volunteers at the Group’s flagship Canalside Activity and Environment  Centre – Blackburn that provides activities such as kayaking, archery and backwoods skills to the whole of the community.

In the last 12 months, over 6,000 people from across the local community have used the centre.
