Northern Diocesan Clergy Conference and Synod

The clergy of the Northern Diocese met at their twice-yearly conference at St George’s Blackburn on 4th and 5th October 2018.

As well as discussing developments in the churches of the Diocese, news was shared about Bishop John’s recent visit to India, and about the involvement of some of our clergy in the Forum of Churches Together in England and GAFCON 3 in Jerusalem.

On Saturday 6th October the clergy were joined by Wardens and Delegates from the parishes for Diocesan Synod. There was a busy agenda, one of the highlights being Lowri Turner’s presentation on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Organisation and how our parishes can register to be receiving churches. Synod strongly urged them all to do so.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you. Fight the good fight of faith, and God will give you spiritual mercies.

It is also our apostolic mission to enable all our people to develop into effective ambassadors of Christ in the Church and in the world.

Bishop John Fenwick

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.
