Ordination at St Jude’s, Balham

The Free Church of England gives thanks for the ordination of the Rev’d Andrew Ormond to the presbyterate, which took place Saturday, 24th October, at St Jude’s Church, Balham.

The service was conducted by the Right Rev’d Dr Paul Hunt, Bishop Primus of the Free Church of England, with the assistance of the Right Rev’d Dr Mark Gretason, the Right Rev’d Dr Jabson Watson, the Rev’d Canon Dr Mark Spiers, the Rev’d Dr John Deane-O’Keeffe and the Rev’d Ambrose Oliver.

The sermon was preached by the Rev’d Canon Dr Mark Spiers, who reflected on John 21:15–17, the passage in which the risen Jesus commissions Peter to care for His flock. The Rev’d Dr John Deane-O’Keeffe read from 1 Peter 5:1–11, while the Right Rev’d Dr Jabson Watson read from John’s Gospel. The words of the sermon linked beautifully with the liturgy of the ordination service.

The Rev’d Andrew was previously ordained as a deacon at St Andrew’s Church, Bentley, in November 2024. Following his ordination to the presbyterate, he will now serve as Minister at Christ Church, Harlesden.

The Free Church of England extends its warm congratulations to the Rev’d Andrew Ormond and prays that God will continue to guide, strengthen and sustain him as he undertakes his ministry at Christ Church, Harlesden and within the FCE.
