St David’s was honoured on Sunday by a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Preston (Councillor and Mrs Brian Rollo).
The visitors were welcomed by the Bishop of the Northern Diocese, the Right Revd John Fenwick, who presided and preached at the service of Holy Communion, assisted by Deacon Jonatas Bragatto. In his sermon Bishop Fenwick used the example of St Polycarp of Smyrna to illustrate the challenge to Christians today not to be ashamed of Jesus and his teaching. We are to resist attempts by our politically correct and anti-Christian society to bully us into silence.
During their visit the mayoral couple toured the church plant and heard of plans for a redevelopment of the site to provide a brand new St David’s church, reaching out with the Gospel into the local community in proclamation and practical caring. After the service they shared in refreshments with members of the congregation.
Following the departure of the Mayor and Mayoress the church members held their Annual Congregational Meeting to elect officers for the coming year, looking to the future with faith and trust in God.
