Bishop Primus Visits Anglican Missionary Congregations Europe

An encouraging occasion of Anglican fellowship and thanksgiving for remarkable growth in Gospel ministry.

On Sunday 26th July, the Right Rev’d Dr Paul Hunt was privileged to attend the Synod of the Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC) Europe in Bolton, where he brought the greetings from the Free Church of England and preached at the concluding service of the three-day gathering.

The closing service was attended by a congregation of approximately 300 worshippers, comprising clergy and laity from across the AMC, and provided a fitting conclusion to a Synod marked by thanksgiving, fellowship, and a renewed commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel.

The Anglican Missionary Congregations have witnessed remarkable growth since their establishment in 2011. From humble beginnings with a single congregation and one minister, the work has flourished under the faithful leadership of Bishop Gideon C. Ilechukwu. Today the AMC numbers 54 congregations across Ireland and Europe served by some 90 ministers, giving abundant evidence of the Lord’s blessing upon this growing Anglican witness.

Bishop Paul preached from John 8:32, exhorting the congregation to remain steadfast in the truth of Christ’s Word, remembering our Lord’s promise: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” His message encouraged all present to continue faithfully in the truth of the Gospel and to bear bold witness to Christ in an increasingly challenging age.

Bishop Paul expresses his gratitude to Almighty God for the opportunity to share in the worship and witness of the AMC and to strengthen the bonds of Christian fellowship.

We rejoice with our brethren in the Anglican Missionary Congregations at all that God has accomplished through their ministry during the past fifteen years. We commend Bishop Gideon, and his wife, Chioma, their clergy, and congregations to our prayers, asking that the Lord will continue to prosper their labours, and uphold them in the faithful ministry of His Word.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think… unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20–21)
