We are grateful to Master Brightwell for his judgement on the case brought before him by the Free Church of England Central Trust. It is a little early to have any actions that may or may not pursue as a result of this. We do not, as yet, have a date for the Consequences Hearing. After that it will be for the FECECT Executive to consider the next steps. It will also be for the congregation and its representatives at Exeter to discuss how they will respond. Our hope is that this will provide an opportunity for positive engagement and conversations between us.
The principal outcome for us is the understanding that ‘in union with the Free Church of England’ in the Charity Constitution means to be part of and in adherence to the formal structures of the Free Church of England.
