Day One
We were blessed to begin Convocation with a service of Evening Prayer, led by the Rev’d Mark Spiers of St Andrew’s, Bentley. Following this, we received the Convocation Charge from Bishop Primus, John Fenwick. His words were both challenging and encouraging, focusing primarily on the growth of the Free Church of England in future decades.

Day Two
Day Two of Convocation began with a thoughtful and encouraging morning devotional led by the Rev’d Andrew Ormond of St Jude’s, Balham.
Convocation then confirmed the appointment of two new Assistant Bishops. The Convocation Chaplain led a prayer for the election process, after which the Rev’d Matthew Firth (Northern Diocese) and the Rev’d Mark Gretason (Southern Diocese) were formally confirmed as bishop-elects.
The highlight of the day was the Agenda for Renewal 2 session, led by Bishop Mike Royal, General Secretary of Churches Together in England. These sessions sparked valuable discussion about the future of the Free Church of England.
It was a day of reflection, vision, and hope as we continue to seek God’s guidance for the road ahead.
After 31 years of faithful service, we bid a warm and grateful farewell to Mr Bill Clements, our beloved General Treasurer, as he steps down from his role. Bill has served the Free Church of England with integrity, dedication, and deep commitment. We also want to express our sincere thanks to Sharon, his devoted wife, whose support and partnership have been a blessing to us all.

Day Three
Day three began with a Holy Communion service, led by Bishop Paul Hunt. The Convocation sermon was delivered by the Rev’d Robert Wilson, offering spiritual encouragement and thoughtful reflection to all in attendance. A significant moment in the day was the formal announcement of the retirement of the Right Rev’d Dr John Fenwick from the Free Church of England. Bishop John has faithfully served as Bishop of the Northern Diocese since 2006 and as Bishop Primus for the past 13 years. Throughout his ministry, he has led with deep theological insight and a steady hand, guiding the Church through seasons of challenge and renewal. We give heartfelt thanks to God for his leadership and unwavering commitment to the Gospel. As Bishop John enters retirement, we pray he may find rest, joy, and new opportunities for ministry and reflection.
