Scout Leaders Attend Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace
Two scout leaders, Peter Sculpher and Stuart Parker, from St George’s said they were “delighted and honoured” to represent their town at a Royal Garden Party held at Buckingham Palace. They attended the prestigious event as representatives of the St George’s Mill Hill Scout Group, which received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in November — the highest honour awarded to volunteer groups in the UK.
The event, hosted in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, welcomed around 7,000 guests, including Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie.
Peter and Stuart had the opportunity to meet many inspiring people from across the UK who dedicate their time to helping others — including Baroness Floella Benjamin, known for her advocacy for children’s welfare and social justice.
St George’s Mill Hill Scout Group has been empowering young people and helping them develop skills for life for over 40 years. Their King’s Award for Voluntary Service — often described as the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups — acknowledges the group’s exceptional impact in the local community.
