Northern Synod discusses Church Planting

The 229th meeting of the Synod of the Northern Diocese took place on Saturday 5th October 2019, hosted by St Stephen’s congregation at the Thorntree Community Hub, Middlesbrough. The Stipendiary Presbyter, Jonatas Bragatto, welcomed Synod and spoke about the church’s strategy in taking its Gospel witness to that region of Middlesbrough.

A full report on the Church Planting conference led by Canon Dan Alger of the ACNA earlier that week was given and discussed. Bundles of prayer material were prepared for distribution in each church of the Diocese.

Details were given of the Diocese’s partnership with SAMS (the Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders) and of Cathy Jacobs, the SAMS missionary who is due to be based at St David’s, Preston, next spring. Parishes were invited to draw up placement projects for ordinands and theological students sponsored by SAMS.

The news round-up from the parishes revealed an impressive range of projects taking place around the Diocese.
